"H2Sport for all the help with the wiring. I won't
touch that stuff." - Randy |

March
2005
Since the release of the Volkswagen Corrado in 1990, it has created
a ripple in the lives of import enthusiasts today. This is
because the Corrado is a hotter commodity now then it was
back in 1990 to 1994 when it was in production. Halfway through
the 1992 model year, Volkswagen dropped the supercharged “G60” engine
and installed the renowned VR6 in the Corrado with other
subtle cosmetic changes. Cylinder banks in the VR6 engine
were only 15 degrees apart. This narrow-angle design allowed
valves for both cylinder banks to be housed in a single cylinder
head. Anti-lock braking system and traction control became
standard, limiting wheel spin which is especially important
for Randy’s Corrado VR6 turbo!
Randy
Letekeman’s beautiful and sleek Corrado is as clean as they
come. With exterior styling at a minimum, this sleeper VR6
only gives a hint of what’s under the hood with the huge
front mounted intercooler sitting low to utilize that dense
air. Following through the intercooler pipes you find yourself
at the toilet sized Turbonetics T04B turbocharger flowing upwards
of 15 pounds of boost that is only conservative for this built
motor. Passing forward, you come to a fully stainless three
inch turbo back exhaust system that sings the VR6 tune as it
cruises along. The estimated 350 whp of pure power is put to
the axles via a lightened flywheel allowing this turbo to get
up to speed quicker while avoiding the loss of unnecessary
rotational mass.
A
quick look into the interior compliments the clean car theme
that plays throughout. A set of OEM looking
VDO gauges,
boost and exhaust gas temperature, give Randy some pertinent
information as to how well the snail is moving along. Sitting
comfortably in the Recaro seats holding the Momo steering wheel,
you’ll be searching for flip switches to set this jet
for take-off!

The Corrado’s stock sport suspension (obviously not sporty
enough for Randy) was replaced by FK’s fully stainless
height adjustable coilovers and set to as low as they can go
before the OEM Porsche wheels start rubbing. With 16x7’s
wheels in the front and 16x8’s in the rear, this sleeper
is just about perfect. With the euro, yet sporty theme in mind,
Randy decided to get a carbon fiber OEM-look hood to not only
add to the overall appearance of the beast, but also to shed
some unnecessary weight.
The
conservative, yet more then effective audio consists of an
Eclipse head-unit; Eclipse being one of the leading manufacturers
of car audio. Focal components provide the crystal clear
sound with additional help of an Eclipse subwoofer thanks
to the PPI 6-Channel amp. This car has it all, from audio
to engine, Randy just wants to enjoy what he has worked hard
at putting together looking for fun on the highways where
his turbo really gets to breath. Randy would like to thank
the guys at H2Sport in Georgetown Ontario for their expert
help and customer service in helping with the wiring involved
in this marvel. This car needs nothing more than oil changes
and car washes; Randy’s OEM-plus styled VR6 Turbo Corrado
is a pleasure to grace our front pages of GenerationDUB.com.
